May 2026 brings one special screw for a very recognisable assembly problem: the washer that slides out of the slotted hole.

SNSQS-LW — socket head cap screws with captive large flat washer for slotted holes

A stainless steel hex socket head cap screw whose large-diameter plain washer is integrated into the screw itself: it cannot fall out or be lost during assembly. The large washer increases the bearing surface, so the pressure on the fastened material is dispersed — suppressing bearing-surface sinkage and loosening. That makes it the screw for slotted (long) holes where the contact surface is small, and for soft fastened materials such as aluminium or resin.

What is a captive washer screw?

A screw on which the washer is permanently retained: it turns freely but cannot come off. That removes the risk of dropped or forgotten washers during assembly and maintenance — particularly valuable in equipment where a loose washer is a contamination or short-circuit risk.
