Low-outgassing

Low-outgassing couplings and screws for high-vacuum, analytical and space applications where released gas would spoil vacuum quality or measurement accuracy.

Low-outgassing

Overview

Components for low-outgassing environments

In high-precision, vacuum and space environments, outgassing (the slow release of adsorbed gas from a material) contaminates surfaces, reduces vacuum quality and harms measurement accuracy. Low-outgassing materials and surface finishing are essential. NBK selects stainless steel, titanium and vacuum-compatible alloys and, for insulating or ultra-low-outgassing needs, PEEK and VESPEL parts, with cleaning and finishing before installation.

Optional ultrasonic cleaning further lowers surface contamination. Complete specifications and CAD files are available per product on nbk1560.com. Share your vacuum level and cleanliness targets and our engineers will match a low-outgassing coupling or screw.

Frequently asked questions

What does low outgassing mean?

Outgassing is the slow release of gas adsorbed in or on a material under vacuum. Low-outgassing parts use materials and finishes that release very little gas, which keeps the vacuum clean and stable. That is critical for UHV, analytical and space systems.

Which materials are low outgassing?

Stainless steel, titanium and vacuum-compatible alloys are standard; for insulating or ultra-low-outgassing needs, PEEK (MSXP coupling) and VESPEL (SPDC-C screw, MOHS coupling) parts are used, often with additional cleaning.
